Mental math trainer
One minute of mixed mental arithmetic, no sign-up. You get a score and — the useful part — which operation is costing you the most time.
Type each answer; the next question appears the moment you are right. Skip with Enter on an empty box.
What the trainer covers
- Addition — three-digit sums, where carrying errors hide.
- Multiplication — two-digit by one-digit, the step inside most word problems.
- Squares — 11² to 30², which collapse estimation questions into one step.
- Percentages — round percentages of round numbers.
- Fractions — common fractions as percentages, the conversion GRE and GMAT questions assume you know cold.
The total is less interesting than the split. One operation far slower than the rest is recall you have not built yet — and recall is the cheapest speed you can buy.
How to use a mental math trainer properly
Short and daily beats long and occasional: speed is a habit, not knowledge. Take the minute, note your slowest operation, then spend ten minutes on only that. Come back tomorrow and run the minute again — the per-operation times are what should move, not just the total.
From trainer to timed drills
This page is a self-check that runs in your browser and is not saved. Quant Daily's daily drills go further: speed tricks timed at 15–70 seconds, Quantitative Comparison at 75 seconds and exam-style quant at 90–120 seconds, with the clock enforced on our server and the fast method shown after every drill.
Is the trainer free?
Yes, and it needs no account. So do the daily drills.
Does this help with GRE and GMAT quant?
It builds the arithmetic speed both sections reward. It does not teach the topics — pair it with whatever course or question bank you already use.
